Subject:  Improvements of college for a better campus experience

With all due respect, I, a sophomore at CCNY would like to address some of the issues that I have witnessed throughout my time here in the college. Some need some immediate attention and others can be done gradually as the budget fits. These improvements will make the college a better and healthier place for the students.

As you know our college has almost 13000 students enrolled in 2021-2022. With this large number of people, we need to keep our amenities, such as food vending machines, garbage cans, toilets running as best as possible. So that Students can be in a healthy and pleasant environment. Unfortunately, these are not running at a bare minimum pace. The following list shows in order the problems of these facilities that need to be dealt with as soon as possible

• As we have students all-day on-campus that need food and water to keep them going for classes and labs. However almost every day the food in the café runs out and the vending machines are out of order.
• The garbage cans are almost full most of the time and sometimes the excess waste fall on the floor near it.
• Finally, the situation in the toilets is worse than you can imagine. No matter which building there is an incident in one or multiple toilets almost every day. Some even waste precious water just by overflowing hours upon hours.

The regular maintenance for the college is a big responsibility. However, it can’t be done alone. With some proper people in some specific points of contact and a helpline for internal problems for the campus can help a lot in the long run. College can hire students to have as a work-study and keep the campus neat and clean. The college can contact the food and vending machine vendors to keep a minimum amount of food and regular servicing to keep everything up to order. Some equipment in the toilet needs to be serviced periodically as well to keep them running as smoothly as possible.

With that being said, we should have awareness posters for the students to keep our campus as well operated as possible, for our benefit. With your permission and support, we can keep and maintain our school at its best for all of us.
